Bedford Village Fire District is mourning the passing of Commissioner Paul Thomasset. Paul died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024 following a seven-year battle with cancer.
Paul had worked in opposition to the new firehouse in Bedford, and after the first bond vote failed narrowly, agreed to join our Community Liaison Committee, formed to promote discussion and understanding of the Fire District's needs. He dedicated many, many hours to learning about the fire and emergency services provided by the Bedford Fire Department and the many reasons that the charming original firehouse could no longer serve the community's needs. With his background in engineering, Paul became part of the solution; contributing to the plan redesign and explaining the need for and his support of the new headquarters. He ran for Fire Commissioner and became our "civilian" on the board, giving us valuable outside perspective. He is and will be missed.
Visiting hours will be held at Clark's Funeral Home, Katonah on Tuesday, April 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Commissioners Mazurak, Thomasset, Feldman, Carleton, and Branche on January 14, 2020, the day the new firehouse bond passed.
