The Bedford Fire Department is accepting applications for the Recruit class of the 2023 - 2024 school year. Our Recruit Program offers local students ages 15 to 17 the chance to learn first hand about emergency response, and to train as a firefighter, EMT, or both, alongside Bedford’s first responders.

Our Recruits train and drill at the new Emergency Headquarters at 550 Old Post Road in Bedford Village through the school year. Our firefighters and EMTs teach the basics: tying knots to applying tourniquets to charging and controlling a hose line and more. When ready, our Recruits can choose to enroll for firefighter or EMT certification under the sponsorship of the Bedford Village Fire District. We have had numerous Recruits become certified by or shortly following their 18th birthday.
